Hi, my name is Tara and I am the Director of Operations and co-owner of Skribbles Learning Center. I am now in my 29th year in the Early Childhood field and I still enjoy my job. I started my career working in a group daycare center as an assistant teacher before starting Skribbles Family Daycare in 1992. During my time at home, I continued to take classes to obtain the EEC certifications to become an Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Lead Teacher as well as hold a position of Director II. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Nazarene College. After many years of working in my home, my sister, Juliane and I thought it would be perfect to join our talents and open a large child care center together. And so, Skribbles Learning Center was formed in 2003. I truly enjoy my job, working alongside my family and an amazingly talented staff. Together, we bring your children exciting programs, a stimulating curriculum and loads of fun. Children are so important to me and I take every chance I can to make a difference in the life of a child. I have been a Cub Scout Leader, Little League Coach and a Fresh Air host for several years and give back to the community whenever I can. Additionally, I started a program called the Jesse Jason Project, with my two sons, where we help local children in need throughout the year and especially at Christmas time to help those in need. My latest endeavor has been to open my home in 2017 as a DCF Foster Home. My boys and I believe that we have been given a great life and we should pay back to others when we are able. This has truly been a humbling experience for all of us.
I currently live in Shrewsbury, MA with my two sons; Jesse, who is 19, a Worcester State student, and a Preschool Teacher here in the West Main Street Preschool classroom; and Jason, who is 17, a Junior at Shrewsbury High School and plays Ice Hockey for the Central Mass Outlaws Elite U18 Hockey League so you can pretty much find me at a local ice rink from August to April. I am so proud of the young men my children have grown into. They are outstanding citizens.
Animal Rescue Leagues are important to my family and our current dog, Tanner, a Chocolate Labrador hails from Good Dog Rescue in Arkansas and we have a Husky puppy that keeps up quite busy! When I’m not working, you’ll find me at the nearest hockey rink or spending quality time with my family or updating these websites. Personal hobbies include traveling, road trips, movies, the beach, live bands, comedy shows or just relaxing by the firepit with family and friends after a long day.
Working in a large center to me is no different than working from my home. Every child is special and becomes part of my family here at Skribbles. I give the same promise here that I did in my family daycare; to see that your children are given the utmost love and care possible, while having a fun experience away from home. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and welcoming you to Skribbles Learning Center.
