Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool
The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is one of the most widely used preschool curriculum in the country. The curriculum emphasizes a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical developmental needs on an individual basis. It uses a hands-on, play-based approach to include phonics and literacy, pre-math, science, social studies, music, art, dramatic play, health, and fine motor and large motor activities. Teachers utilize large group, small group, and individualized instruction to maximize the potential of each child.
The curriculum will fill your child’s day with rich learning experiences rooted in exploration, discovery, and play. Constructive and purposeful play is essential for children’s learning, encouraging discovery and exploration, and supporting children’s academic growth. When children plan, they acquire language, learn to solve problems, learn to control behavior and feelings, and explore social roles. They learn about themselves, other people, their community, other communities, and the world around them.
Through daily observations of children, teachers are able to plan a curriculum in which they can facilitate growth in all areas of development which becoming active participants in the children’s daily activities in both indoor and outdoor environments. These observations also serve to assist teachers in learning about each child’s individualized needs and interests. This information is passed on to the parents through informal daily contact as well as formal parent conferences. This will promote a strong connection between the home and school environments.
